Studies show there is a strong relationship between a child’s awareness of the proper way to treat animals and that child’s ability as an adult to relate humanely not only to animals, but to society as a whole. Wayside Waifs is determined to build a more Humane Kansas City! Humane Educators and their companion animals teach educational programs to prevent violence and break the cycle of animal and human abuse. In 2016, Wayside was thrilled to open a new expansion and comfort station to Wayside Waifs Bark Park, given and dedicated by the Harold and Marilyn Melcher family. This space adds clean restrooms, drink machines, paw washing station and seating. This great park offers 5-acres of off-leash fun your canine friends! We hope you and your dog find the park to be a great outlet for safe socialization and bonding. Our goal is to create the safest dog park in the metropolitan area.

Conveniently located in south Kansas City, our newly expanded campus sits on more than 50 beautiful acres. Featuring a Pet Adoption center, Animal Rescue facility, Bark Park, Behavior & Training facility, Vet Clinic and Pet Memorial Services, Wayside Waifs is more than 50,000 square feet in size.
Wayside Waifs is a privately funded, independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity.
